Realtors learn the art of self-defense

A handful of Chattanooga area Realtors this week learned new skills for their profession that had nothing to do with the MLS, earning the ABR designation, or becoming an eco-friendly agent.

Rather, they learned how to perform wrist grabs, bear hugs, and choke holds.

To ensure Realtors have the ability and the confidence to defend themselves should the need arise, the Greater Chattanooga Association of Realtors invited Master Instructor James Ross Hogwood of the Academy of Self Defense to teach his “Realtors Common Sense Self Defense” class Tuesday at the Association.

While Realtor Safety Month isn’t until September, the agents who attended got a head start on keeping themselves safe while working. The event was sponsored by Bruce Dodd, director of operations at People’s Home Equity.

The Association will offer the class again in September. Space will be limited, so watch www.gcar.net for details.
