The city of Chattanooga has named Angela Hayes the new deputy administrator for the Office of Early Learning. She will replace Ariel Ford, who has led the office since its inception in 2017.
Hayes has been with the city since 2014, first serving as the director of the Foster Grandparent program and then as an Early Learning Business Navigator, where she oversaw the implementation of the Seats for Success program.
Before joining the city, Hayes was a federal probation officer with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. During that time, she noticed many of the convicted felons with which she was working had little to no early childhood education experience. This led to a career transition.
Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke formed the Office of Early Learning in 2017. The department works to broaden early learning opportunities for Chattanooga families.
Legacybox recruits director of e-commerce
Legacybox has hired Kirsten Henning as the company’s first director of e-commerce. Henning joins Legacybox from Peter Millar, a high-end men’s fashion company, where she was an online marketing channel manager.
During her time at Peter Millar, Henning influenced sustained growth in online revenue year-over-year through digital marketing strategies across social, search, affiliate and display programs. She also introduced new digital marketing channels to Peter Millar, which led to the company’s growing brand recognition.
Before Peter Millar, Henning worked at ROI Revolution, working in strategic social media advertising. She studied communication at North Carolina State University.
WTCI-PBS welcomes new chair
The governing board of WTCI-TV PBS has named Don Jernigan board chair.
Jernigan is a retired nuclear executive last employed as a senior vice president with TVA. He also served as a naval officer in the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Service.
Jernigan received a Bachelor of Science degree in physics at Florida State University and an MBA from the University of Miami. Before becoming board chair, Jernigan served on WTCI’s Community Advisory Board and was appointed to the board of directors in 2018.
