The road leading to the Chattanooga Airport is getting a new look.

The Chattanooga Department of Transportation will be making significant improvements along Shepherd Road and Airport Connector Road as part of the Airport Master Plan.

Upgrades will include narrowed lanes, bicycle lanes, curbs and gutters, sidewalks and landscape improvements. The new roadway cross section will consist of two 10-foot travel lanes in each direction and a 10-foot, two-way center turn lane.

Construction is expected to take approximately six months, weather permitting, starting this spring.
