After weeks of clearing and resurfacing the former East Ridge High School Tennis Courts, 4320 Bennett Road, the city is opening the courts with the addition of lines for pickleball play. On Saturday, Aug. 10, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., participants can play both tennis and pickleball with equipment provided by the Chattanooga Tennis Association and the East Ridge Seniors Pickleball group. Bark-B-Q Boat Ride
The Humane Educational Society will host a Bark-B-Q Boat Ride aboard the Southern Belle on Sunday, Aug. 18, from 5-6:30 p.m. Boarding begins at 4:30 p.m. The event will include dinner, a silent auction and adoptable animals. The proceeds will benefit homeless animals at HES.
The Homeschool Revolution
Hamilton Flourishing will continue its monthly educational series with a talk on the history of homeschooling in Tennessee Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Chattanooga Public Library. Homeschooling pioneers Stuart and Tamie Goggins will lead the discussion. All ages and backgrounds are invited.
ChaTech hosts CxO Auction
The Chattanooga Technology Council will host its 8th annual CxO Auction Thursday, Aug. 22, at Chattanooga Whiskey Event Hall. The event will begin with a networking reception and whiskey tours from 5-6 p.m. Dinner and the auction will follow beginning at 6 p.m.
The CxO Auction brings together the Chattanooga tech community to support the outreach programs provided by ChaTech, including coding camps for youth, scholarships for college students in IT majors and educational programs for professionals.
Chattanooga’s Holistic Fall Festival
Chattanooga’s Holistic Fall Festival will take place Saturday, Sept. 7 at Crabtree Farms from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission to the festival is free. Tickets are available on Eventbrite by searching for “Chattanooga’s Holistic Fall Festival.” The event will feature 18 holistic practitioners as well as beer from Hutton & Smith and cheese from Blue Fox Cheese Shop.
Racial justice workshop
Local education nonprofit The Chattery will host author Austin Channing Brown for an open-to-the-public racial justice workshop on Friday, Sept. 27, at The Camp House.
