Justin Groenert has joined the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce as vice president of public policy.
Groenert previously served as chief of staff for Kelly Mitchell, Indiana State treasurer. He oversaw office staff and six quasi-governmental organizations and served as legislative director for the treasurer’s office.
Earlier, Groenert served as government relations and public policy director for the Southwest Indiana Chamber, where he managed advocacy and lobbying at federal, state and local levels.
Groenert has also worked for two members of Congress and managed several congressional campaigns.
An Evansville, Indiana native, Groenert studied political science and political communications at Western Kentucky University and holds a master’s of public administration from the University of Southern Indiana.
Stantec expands group hire
A team of civil engineers has joined Stantec’s Community Development practice in Chattanooga. The four-person group joins the global engineering and design firm from Passpointe Engineering, a regional consulting firm that had provided civil engineering, conservation and green design services in Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama for nearly 10 years.
Jan Pass will serve as a civil team lead in Stantec’s Chattanooga office. As the former president and founder of Passpointe Engineering, she has more than 30 years of experience in civil site design, survey, project management and contract administration.
Pass also specializes in Low Impact Development and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design principles.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering and recreation resource administration from North Carolina State University.
Anthony Spallone joins Stantec as a civil designer with experience in civil site design, including erosion prevention and sediment control, grading, storm drainage systems, stormwater management and site and utility water and sewer design.
He has more than five years of experience in the design and engineering of commercial and residential projects and 13 years of experience managing complex construction and expansion projects involving healthcare and commercial facilities.
Spallone has a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
Deirdre Hayes joins Stantec as a civil technician. She has more than 30 years of experience as a CAD technician and graphic specialist and brings technical and research experience in the area of land surveying. Hayes’ experience includes creating 2D and 3D models and technical drawings for the U.S. Air Force.
Since 1980, she has worked as a drafting professional, specializing in architectural, structural, mechanical, civil and surveying disciplines.
Hayes attended Baptist College, now known as Charleston Southern University, and Trident Technical College in Charleston, South Carolina.
Leslie Russell joins Stantec as a technical assistant. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in human resource management from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Andrew McGill is the new board president for Partnership for Families, Children and Adults. He has served on the board of directors for seven years and is in his 25th year as the senior vice president of strategy, business development and government relations for CHI Memorial Health Care System.
Trimiew joins CHI Memorial Pediatric
CHI Memorial Medical Group has welcomed Dr. Sarah Mian Trimiew to CHI Memorial Pediatric Diagnostic Associates. Mian Trimiew received her medical degree from Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina and completed her residency in pediatrics at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville. She also holds a masters of public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Mian Trimiew is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Mandawat joins Chattanooga Heart Institute
Dr. Aditya Mandawat has joined The Chattanooga Heart Institute at CHI Memorial. Mandawat received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and completed a residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
In Durham, North Carolina, he completed cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at Duke University Hospital, a cardiovascular diseases research fellowship at Duke Clinical Research Institute and an advanced cardiovascular imaging fellowship at Duke Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Center.
Mandawat is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases and the National Board of Echocardiography.
