Events: Free safety event




The East Ridge Police Department will host a safety event for the community Saturday, May 18, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at Camp Jordan Arena. All ages are welcome. Events will include a seat belt crash simulator, a DUI simulator driving course (must be at least 18 and have a driver’s license), a car seat check and more.

Bach’s ‘Mass in B Minor’

The Chattanooga Bach Choir & Orchestra will present Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Mass in B Minor” Saturday, May 18, at 7:30 p.m., at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1505 N. Moore Road. Tickets

Spirits in the Wild

The Chattanooga Zoo will host its Spirits in the Wild fundraiser Saturday, May 18, 6-10 p.m. The 21-and-older event will offer food and wine from local restaurants and unrestricted access to the zoo’s animal exhibits. Tickets

Fashion show fundraiser

The Chattanooga chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women will host its Glitz & Glamour fashion show Saturday, May 18, at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Hixson ALDI reopening

ALDI will welcome shoppers to its renovated Hixson store, 5510 Highway 153, Wednesday, May 22. Ribbon-cutting ceremony 8:45 a.m., followed by a Golden Ticket giveaway offering gift cards to the first 100 customers. Shoppers can also enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a year’s supply of ALDI produce.

Sangria on the Bluff

La Paz Chattanooga’s annual signature fundraiser will be held at Hunter Museum of American Art on Thursday, May 23, 6:30 p.m. The main event will be held in Hunter’s grand foyer lobby and auditorium. An after-party will be held in the 24-hour terrace following the main event. This year’s entertainment will be provided by Mariachi Aventurero de Dalton and DJ Fernando Mobile Sound Service out of Atlanta. Local restaurants will compete to win the title of Best Sangria in Chattanooga. Tickets

Entrepreneur Power Luncheon

The Urban League of Greater Chattanooga’s sixth annual Entrepreneur Power Luncheon will take place Tuesday, May 28, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Chattanooga Convention Center. The keynote speakers will be EJ Reed, Clint Gray and Derrick Moore, owners of Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria.
