Events: Seats for Success celebration




The City of Chattanooga’s Office of Early Learning will host a community celebration of Mayor Andy Berke’s Seats for Success initiative Wednesday, April 3.

The Mayor’s goal is to create 1,000 early learning seats by the end of his term in spring 2021. The celebration will take place 5-7 p.m. at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center. The event is free to attend but since dinner will be served an RSVP is required. Artburst is back

Chattanooga kicks off April with the return of Artburst, a monthlong celebration of art and artists. Among the more than 45 events in the campaign are the Chattanooga Film Festival (April 11-14) with Artist Residency Chattanooga, the 4 Bridges Art Festival (April 12-14), Book Fiesta (April 13) with ELLA Chattanooga and The Art of Solar Dyeing (April 27) at Crabtree Farms. Free financial education day

Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise will host its fifth annual Money School on Saturday, April 13, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., at BX – Brainerd Crossroads, 4011 Austin St. Money School is a free financial education day focused on home buying, raising one’s credit score, achieving financial independence, investing, budgeting and debt elimination. The event will be open to anyone aged 13 and older. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Free one-on-one counseling sessions will be available for credit report analysis, mortgage assessments and personal finance advising. More at www.MoneySchoolCHA.org.

Bunny Hop!

The 19th annual Bunny Hop! to benefit Chambliss Center for Children will be held Friday, May 3, in the First Tennessee Pavilion, 6-8:30 p.m. Activities for children will include arts and crafts, a petting station, balloon artists, a magician, a sports zone, a photo booth, karaoke and more. Outrun melanoma

The seventh annual Elizabeth’s Outrun Melanoma 5K Run and Walk will take place Saturday, May 11, at the Enterprise South Nature Park. Registration, check-in and warmup activities will begin at 8 a.m. The run and walk will start at 9 a.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Elizabeth R. Smith Melanoma Program at CHI Memorial Rees Skillern Cancer Institute, which supports the prevention, awareness and research of melanoma, a form of skin cancer.

Entrepreneur Power Luncheon

The Urban League of Greater Chattanooga’s sixth annual Entrepreneur Power Luncheon will take place Tuesday, May 28, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center. The keynote speakers will be E.J. Reed, Clint Gray and Derrick Moore, the owners of Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria.
