Newsmakers: Parkridge welcomes neurosurgeon David Wiles

David Wiles, M.D., a board-certified neurosurgeon with Southeastern Spine and Neurosurgery, has joined the medical staff at Parkridge Medical Center.

Wiles earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and completed a general surgery internship and neurosurgical residency at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.

In nearly three decades of practice, Wiles has leveraged the skills he developed training under world-renowned spine surgeons to offer innovative neurosurgical procedures, such as same-day surgeries for herniated discs, spinal stenosis and artificial discs, according to Parkridge.

Wiles also provides robot-assisted spinal surgery and minimal access surgery for brain tumors and bleeding in the brain.

He has also had an active role in the development and implementation of many spine surgical techniques and devices.

A member of numerous neurosurgical committees and medical organizations, Wiles’ work has been featured in academic journals and conference presentations.

Prior to joining Southeastern Spine and Neurosurgery, Wiles was president of East Tennessee Brain & Spine Center and director of the Neuroscience Department at Mountain States Health Alliance, both in Johnson City, where he had practiced since 2000. He previously practiced at Appalachian Neurosurgery Clinic in Johnson City.
