Grace is a picture of beauty as she prepares to be married to Alex in “Ready or Not,” a new horror film from Fox Searchlight Pictures. Little does she know she’s about to step into a nightmare unlike any she’s imagined.

The U.S. Census Bureau is hiring nearly 500 workers for temporary jobs in Hamilton County to support the 2020 census. Many of the jobs offer flexible work hours including opportunities for daytime, evening and weekend hours. All positions include mileage and paid training.

Extensive renovations and additions to the lower fields at Girls Preparatory School will soon be underway. Franklin Architects designed the project; T.U. Parks Construction Company will complete the work.

A new look to the lower athletic complex will build upon the recent updates to the softball field and track. Included in the project is an outdoor plaza to create a space for guests and to provide a point of entry to the athletic fields.

Drs. Sumit Patel and Jesse Tucker have joined CHI Memorial Medical Group’s Buz Standefer Lung Center. Patel received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica. He completed his residency in internal medicine at State University of New York in Buffalo, where he also completed fellowships in pulmonary care and sleep medicine. Patel is board certified by the American Board of Internal medicine in internal medicine and pulmonary disease.

Smiles of Chattanooga sponsored a bed build for Sleep in Heavenly Peace Chattanooga on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Drs. Bob Gallien and Erin Eudaly raised money and the rest of the doctors matched their donation to sponsor a bed build for the local chapter of the nationwide charity, Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

Life Care Centers of America honored Lauren McCann, executive director at Life Care Center of Collegedale, with one of two President’s Awards for its eastern division on Aug. 26.

The honor recognizes distinguished service in long-term health care management. The eastern division includes 39 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

New babies have arrived at the Chattanooga Zoo. But the zoo still doesn’t know if its matchmaking efforts with the parents were a success.

Three Komodo dragon babies hatched at the zoo on Aug. 4. This was the first successful komodo dragon hatching to take place at the facility.

Girls Preparatory School has welcomed the following new faculty to its team of teachers:

Andy Arick, English teacher

Arick holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English and teaches English 9 and 10 at GPS. Arick taught for the last year at Franklin Road Academy in Nashville and began teaching in 2015 in southern Alabama. A long-time soccer player and a girls’ soccer coach throughout his teaching career, he will serve as an assistant coach for the GPS Middle School soccer team.
