Finding good on ‘both sides of the V’
Peers return some of the love they get from ever-positive Hollis

Talk with attorney Joe Hollis Jr. for a few minutes and one thing will become clear: He has something good to say about everyone and is lavish in his praise.

Hollis calls the founding partner of his firm, the late Josiah Baker, a “dear, generous friend.” Baker’s wife, Betty, the former receptionist at the firm, was “a joy and a gracious lady.”

Fullerton selects right path – by a nose

Some people never look back after deciding to become an attorney. But Jenna Fullerton kept her options open.

“I knew law school was a huge commitment, so I gave myself opportunities to decide against it,” she says.

Fullerton’s first attempt at changing course backfired. While an undergraduate student at the University of Texas at Austin, she majored in political science and philosophy.

Little Real Estate Center posts big numbers in Chattanooga market

David celebrated a strong showing against Goliath as Re/Max Real Estate Center hosted its 2018 agent awards luncheon at the Walden Club in downtown Chattanooga.

With far fewer agents than many other local offices, Real Estate Center nevertheless ranked high on the Chattanooga MLS, with the Ft. Oglethorpe office finishing at No. 25 and the Lafayette office coming in at No. 42 out of more than 200 offices.

March market statistics

Nationally, increasing housing prices and housing affordability remain a concern in many markets, but locally, sales prices and inventory levels remain steady.

One big takeaway from March is the sharp increase in people listing their property for sale.

Focus on your lawn this month

When it comes to your home exterior, people tend to notice your front lawn first. A well-maintained lawn not only enhances your home’s curb appeal but also helps sustain and strengthen home values throughout your neighborhood.

Cultivate a lush and healthy lawn this month by taking these easy steps.

Do we really have to welcome all to our state parks?

The South prides itself on being welcoming, my native Mississippi going so far as to officially bill itself as “the Hospitality State.” In general, it serves us well.

But Tennessee might be a little too hospitable.

On May 17-19, the “white advocacy” group American Renaissance is holding its annual conference at Montgomery Bell State Park for the eighth time since 2012. On the last weekend of June, the American Freedom Party and the Council of Conservative Citizens will jointly settle into Montgomery Bell for the second year in a row.

Details shift in state’s Medicaid block grant plan

The latest legislative iteration in the move to receive billions in federal TennCare funds as a block grant would curb new federal mandates, add flexibility for the state to control pharmacy costs, set a floor for federal funding and remove previous requirements for state legislators to approve any TennCare deal that Gov. Bill Lee negotiates.

Earth Day offers valuable lessons to investors

On April 22, millions of people will observe Earth Day by participating in events that support environmental protection. As a citizen, you may want to take part in a local celebration. And as an investor, you can learn a few lessons from the themes of Earth Day.

Bon Voyage
Students, scientists release young lake sturgeon into Tennessee River

Under the curious scrutiny of onlookers gathered at the Coolidge Park boat ramp, Chattanooga students and scientists from the Tennessee Aquarium Conservation Institute this month eased about 90 dinosaurs into the Tennessee River.

At just 15-inches long, the 9-month-old lake sturgeon that slipped into the current still have many years of growing before potentially becoming eight-foot river giants.
