The Hon. W. Frank Brown, III arrived at the Hamilton County Courthouse, entered through the Georgia Avenue entrance and began emptying his pockets at the security post.

Refugee lawsuit proceeds despite political upheaval

Tennessee is going “full speed ahead” in a challenge of the federal Refugee Resettlement Program despite threats by President-elect Donald Trump to dismantle it or, at the least, stop the flow of refugees from terrorist-linked countries.

Jones will get a year to prove he’s not all talk

It’s going to be a long bowl season for Tennessee’s football team and its fans.

The Vols find out their bowl destination soon after Saturday’s SEC championship game (4 EST, CBS) between Florida and Alabama in Atlanta.

Tennessee (8-4, 4-4 SEC) was supposed to be playing in Atlanta. Not Florida.

Leadership Chattanooga focuses on transportation

Leadership Chattanooga’s November session convened at the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce’s INCubator, the largest business incubator in Tennessee. “Economic Development and Transportation” was the day’s theme.

There’s evidence of the river being used for trade as early as the year 900. Much later, in the 1800s, Chattanooga became the “Gateway to the South” due to its central location and famous railroads.

Baker Donelson adds associates

Hanna Burnett and Allyson Lumpkin have joined Baker Donelson’s Chattanooga office as associates. They are two of 18 associates to join Baker Donelson across the firm.

‘Allied’ lacks sizzle

I’ve been staring at a blinking cursor for too long as I’ve tried to summon an introduction to my review of “Allied,” a World War II romantic thriller.

As I think back on the film, which follows Max and Marianne, assassins who fall in love during a mission to kill a German official, I can’t think of anything noteworthy or patently bad about the film. “Allied” merely tells a simple story in a slightly patchy but mostly competent manner and then rolls the credits.

Keller Williams Downtown has donated $10,000 to Chambliss Center for Children as part of a long-term commitment to the agency.

Chambliss Center provides around-the-clock foster care and child care assistance for at-risk children in Hamilton County. Presenting the check to Katie Harbison, vice president of development and administration at Chambliss Center, are KW Downtown team leader Nathan Brown and Realtor Mark Hite.

Thinking of selling? Ask yourself these questions

With so many television shows and social media features of dream homes and the latest housing trends, it’s hard to ignore the itch for a new home. When the urge to sell strikes, it’s important for sellers to consider their reasons for selling. Realtor Magazine offers the following questions to aide sellers in determining whether they’re ready to move.

Housing remains a priority for most Americans

Even as housing markets continue to recover at different rates around the country, the American Dream of homeownership remains strong. In fact, an overwhelming four-out-of-five Americans believe owning a home is a good investment, a recent poll commissioned by the National Association of Home Builders reveals.

Time for a year-end investment review

With the holiday season upon us, you may well be busier than usual. However, by spending a few minutes reviewing your investment scenario of this past year, you can see where you’ve been, where you might be going and what you need to do to keep moving forward toward your long-term financial goals.

Less can be more or simply less. Much less

In Dec. 1818 – 198 years ago –Thomas Jefferson wrote Robert Walsh, Jr., a letter. In it he included an anecdote that speaks to the relative value of revising a document.

Who, you ask, is Robert Walsh? And why did the former President correspond with him on such a matter?
